For Biscarrosse<\/a>, the history of the aeronautical world is no longer a secret, as it has benefited from a museum dedicated to hydraviation. It’s the only place in Europe where you’ll find the entire history of the seaplane<\/strong>, from its precursors to today’s state-of-the-art aircraft.<\/p>\n

The Hydraviation Museum is a municipal exhibition space<\/b> in the good old town of Biscarrosse. It sits on the mythical site<\/b> of a former world hydra-jet base. Indeed, in the 1930s, Pierre-Georges Lat\u00e9co\u00e8re chose the site to become a place specially designed for the assembly and testing of French seaplanes, then the Hourtiquets hydrobase at the end of that same year. It’s in this environment that many aerial machines of this kind have taken to the skies. These were known as the air liners<\/b> and linked New York to Fort-de-France.<\/p>\n

This famous history is firmly attached to the Museum. Today, the Hydraviation Museum bears witness to their career. It testifies to the importance of air liners at one time, and proves that they are not yet buried in time. On the contrary, they are still very useful today for coastal surveillance, transport in certain almost inaccessible areas, and so on.<\/p>\n

Visit to the hydraviation museum in Biscarrosse<\/h2>\n

The hydraviation museum offers a guided tour<\/b> through the history of these amazing machines<\/b>. Photographic documents, archives, paintings and posters are also on display. Flight suits, uniforms and logbooks are also on display. Antique seaplane miniatures<\/b> are the most popular. For those with a keen interest in flying, the museum boasts many autographs of famous pilots, their decorations, personal memorabilia and more. As for mechanics, engines and spare parts are also on display.<\/p>\n

The conservatory remains open to visitors all year round, from 2pm in the off-season<\/b> and 10am in the high season<\/b>. Please note, however, that group tours must be booked in advance. For adults, admission is 6.5 euros for guided tours and 5 euros without a guide. For youth groups, however, the fee is 2 euros. Single ticket prices are 8 euros for adults and 4 euros for those with a reduced ticket.
